I studied journalism briefly, but it wasn't enough. I met my first serious boyfriend, a German Rock Star and I moved to Germany! I lived there for 4 years and essentially on a tour bus travelling all over the world. At some point, I just realized I could not live in someone's shadow no matter the bond. I decided that I should smarten up and went back to University. I studied in Detroit for 4 years. On a daily basis, my teachers wouldn't stop telling me to transfer into Fine Arts. They said I was meant for it because I had too many ideas, too many thoughts. So I did! I came home to Montreal to do a Master in Painting & Drawing at Concordia University. I'm inclined towards the aesthetics of everything, and I'm extremely opinionated. After graduating, I worked in collaboration with a Contemporary Art Consultant and a few artists and designers. I exhibit my work, I curated shows, I did trend forecasting and produced fashion delegation to fashion weeks. I stopped after a few year because in 2004, on a cold November night, I had the idea for ERA Vintage Wear : that was it for me!
Even when I was working with designers & artists, there was always that cross-breeding ( métissage in french ) in my dress code and style. Old meets new, haute couture mixed with this and that. Working with designers as an artist made me realize that I had too much of a strong vision and philosophy to work for others. I needed to fully develop my own thing! I decided to open my own shop, and do my own thing. I looked for a space the day after this realization and never looked back. In french we say : qui m'aime, me suive!
